Organizing Committee for the Council of Affiliated Protestant Ministries

Membership

1. One representative from each of the disaffiliated ministries, should they choose to participate. These were those who were directly affected by last fall's actions. To invite them to participate in organizing the council is a gesture both of healing and of confidence in them. They can now participate as the full partners in Georgetown's campus ministry that our new structure envisions them to be.
2. Two students; while we recognize that it is unlikely students could attend all the meetings of this interim council, they need to be included;
3. Two faculty members;
4. The Protestant Team Leader.

Charge
This interim council is to be instructed to:

1. Invite other ministries and area churches, etc. to consider affiliation;Develop an application for affiliation in accordance with the instructions of the Covenant Agreement;Start the process for initial approval, a process that would almost certainly continue in the fall, as more groups become aware of the process; nevertheless, it is important to get the process underway, both so that affiliation is seen as a welcoming process; and so that the council ready to hit the ground running in August.Plan the date and agenda of the first meeting of the council in August, an agenda to include:
     A. a proposed mechanism for selecting a moderator/convener for the
          year;
     B. a proposal for a 'constitutional' or 'ways and means' committee
          whose task is to hammer out the details about how the Council
          fulfils its mission.
2. Draw up provisional guidelines and procedures for things like reserving rooms and posting fliers, with the help and support of the Office of Campus Ministry, so that new affiliates have some idea of how to make themselves at home at Georgetown University;
