Baptism, Eucharist, & Confirmation
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
If you or someone you know is not baptized, baptized in another Christian denomination but feel drawn to the Catholic Church, or baptized Catholic but have never made first Eucharist and/or Confirmation, consider participating in our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) sessions. Often times, people will notice that they are spending more time wondering about the Catholic faith. Perhaps a new friend, a family member, a life-change, an experience of the Mass, or a vibrant Scripture text has stirred your attentiveness to deeper matters. If you find yourself inquisitive about Catholic faith, the Catholic Chaplaincy invites you to join us on a faith journey. Our first session will be on Monday, September 14, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., in Copley Crypt Chapel. We meet weekly, each Monday, for two semesters.
For further information contact Dr. Ennio Mastroianni, Senior Roman Catholic Chaplain, at sacraments@georgetown.edu or 202-687-6880. Dr. Mastroianni prefers to have a pastoral visit with inquirers before the first session, but if it is not possible to do so, then just show up on the first night. Allowances are made for life-long Catholics who are baptized, receive Eucharist regularly, and are catechized in the faith, to take a shorter track to Confirmation by joining us in January. Please contact Dr. Mastroianni at your earliest opportunity if you would like to be considered for this latter approach.
