2017-2018 Sophomore Retreats

The Sophomore Retreat is part of a new series of retreats designed by Campus Ministry in conjunction with GUSA, the Cawley Career Center and the Red House, to to provide space between ESCAPE and Senior Retreat for sophomores to reflect in community. It’s not ESCAPE, because you’re not a first-year student - it’s a space to focus on self-discovery in the context of community, and calling, accompanied by chaplains and staff. At this point in your college journey, where are you finding community? How are you discovering, and re-discovering, your gifts and desires? How are you continually refining your sense of purpose and vocation?

Get away to the beautiful Calcagnini Contemplative Center and spend time in community with your fellow sophomores. Take a step back from the routine of campus life to critically examine your journey, and take the space to discern. You’ll hear talks from chaplains and staff, participate in an activity to refine and articulate your core values, and spend time in community discussing your own journey. There will be plenty of free time for you to connect more deeply with yourself, your peers, and the chaplains and staff accompanying the retreat.

The Sophomore Retreat is grounded in our Ignatian spirit and values, and embraces the experiences and perspectives of students of all religious and non-religious backgrounds as it seeks to promote a broad understanding of spirituality.

There are two opportunities to go on the Sophomore Retreat:

Friday, October 20 to Saturday, October 21 and Saturday, November 4 to Sunday, November 5

As with most retreats, the bus will leave campus at 4:00pm on the first day, and return by 6:30pm on the second day.
