Communities

From its founding in 1789, Georgetown has welcomed students from diverse religious and non-religious backgrounds. This commitment is deeply rooted in the university’s Jesuit and Catholic Identity. Read more about Georgetown’s Jesuit and Catholic heritage. 

Campus Ministry offers religious services and gatherings for the Roman Catholic, Protestant Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Orthodox Christian, and Dharmic (Buddhist, Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Yogic) communities. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to explore the religious traditions and experiences of other members of the Georgetown community.

Interfaith Programs and Exploration

One of the core values of Georgetown is Interreligious Understanding, a commitment to be in community with and learn from those of various religious backgrounds. Campus Ministry invites students to engage in these practices through various interfaith events and series. Events are held regularly throughout the academic year.

Members of the Georgetown community are invited to explore the wide array of religious services, holiday celebrations, and program opportunities on campus both within and outside of one’s own tradition. Visiting a service is a great way to learn more about different religious traditions and all of our services are open to visitors.
