A Georgetown University Law Center graduate and a lawyer in a previous career, Michael has served as the Jewish Chaplain for the Law Center since August 2002. His legal practice focused mainly on Employment Law, including Employment Discrimination, Labor and Personnel Law, and Disability Rights. He engaged in litigation, arbitration, and mediation in all these fields.
A student of Judaism for his adult life, Michael has taught numerous courses on Judaica, including many at Georgetown Law and Medical Centers. He holds biweekly “Torah Studies” which are open to the entire Law School Community, regardless of religious affiliation.
Michael works to help community members from all religious or spiritual backgrounds find a home at Georgetown Law and was instrumental in bringing the Lawyers in Balance (LIB) mindfulness program to Georgetown Law. Because of his extensive experience as a lawyer, Michael is especially focused on helping students build a bridge between law school and legal practice, and between the practical and the spiritual.
