Catholic Music Ministry
Catholic Music Ministry groups provide music at Sunday Mass and join together to support music at special events throughout the year, such as the New Student Orientation, Mass of the Holy Spirit, Parents' Weekend, Jesuit Heritage Week, Lessons and Carols, Lent Prayer, and Baccalaureate Mass.
There are several ways to become involved in Catholic Music Ministry:
- University Chapel Choir: The University Chapel Choir is the premier liturgical choral ensemble on campus and has established its reputation for providing excellence in sacred music both on campus and off. The choir sings a wide variety of SATB choral music from Palestrina to Durufle to Tavener. Membership is open to all who are associated with the university. The Chapel Choir undertook its first choral pilgrimage to Italy in May 2011, and is beginning to plan its next Italy trip for May of 2015. The Chapel Choir sings at the 9:30 p.m. Mass each Sunday and rehearses each Thursday from 7:15 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. in Dahlgren Chapel.
Georgetown University Chapel Choir is accepting new members in all sections, Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass. If you would like to sing, please join us. We rehearse on Thursday evenings in Dahlgren Chapel, and sing for the 9:30pm Mass on Sundays. In addition, the Chapel Choir sings for all University Liturgies and special events throughout the year.

- Cantors: Cantors lead singing at the 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Masses and rehearse directly before Mass.

Georgetown University’s Gospel Choir is a university-sponsored choir through the Office of Campus Ministry and Department of Performing Arts. As the choir-in-residence at the 7:00 pm weekly worship service in St. William Chapel, the group rehearses a variety of gospel music each week; the choir also holds concerts in the fall and spring, while also performing in the greater DC community throughout the year.
