The Society of Jesus Restored: How New? How Old?

Jesuits and lay colleagues and supporters from around the Maryland Province came together at Georgetown University on Thursday, September 18, 2014, for a special celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Restoration of the Order. Preceding a festive con-celebrated Mass in Dahlgren Chapel and reception in the quad, noted historians Rev. John W. Padberg, S.J., and Rev. David J. Collins, S.J. professor in Georgetown’s History department, spoke about the significance of the suppression and restoration to a full house. Very Rev. Robert Hussey, S.J., Provincial, presided at Mass and offered the homily. This link will take you to video recordings of both the Mass and the lectures.
