Do you like to eat? Then you can retreat!
A free catered dinner delivered to your dorm room or apartment and a mini-retreat? Only 1 ½ hours? No strings attached? Yes, really. Campus Ministry is rolling out a new retreat program this semester called Companions.
If you are a student who wants to get to know their friends and neighbors a little better and explore your faith this is the retreat for you. Here is how it works: You pick the date, the time, invite up to nine of your friends and what you want to talk about. The Companions’ team takes care of the rest. Two leaders will show up with a delicious catered meal and facilitate conversation on the topic you picked and lead the group in a closing Companions prayer.
Maybe you’re thinking, “I don’t know what I would want to reflect on.” We’ve got something for you too. Our Retreats On-Demand list offers reflections on various topics created by our very own Companions Team. Maybe you’d like to explore, “Paradox: Discomfort in Belief”: Do you understand everything that you believe? Are there parts of your faith that make you uncomfortable as a believer? Here’s a great opportunity to talk it out. With Thanksgiving on the horizon, why not gather you and your friends for a reflection on “The Power of Giving Thanks”?
A Companions’ Dinner is a great opportunity for those who are spiritual, but not religious, are seeking more spiritually or have a lot of experience on retreats. The best part of Companions is that it is tailored to suite you and your group of friends. Check out our Facebook page and see pictures from some of the Dinners that have already taken place! If you have any comments or suggestions for the Companions Team, we encourage you to leave them in the comments section below. Who knows, maybe your idea will become a reflection!
