The Jewish Chaplaincy welcomes students back to campus with an initiative designed to broaden our horizons and delight our senses. Thanks to the generosity of a Georgetown Jewish family, we will be taking our already exciting Shabbat program up a notch through our new Global Gourmet Shabbat series. This series will host four upscale Shabbat dinners catered by local ethnic restaurants. Two of the dinners (Taco Bar / Sushi) will be in our beautiful Makom: A Jewish Gathering Space in Leavey, one will in Copley Formal (Mediterranean), and another in Riggs Library (Asian Fusion)! At each service we will learn melodies and teachings about the Jewish community of the country from which the featured cuisine originates.
We’ll also be deepening our Jewish learning this semester by growing our already successful, Makom Midrash Bagel Brunch into a weekly semester-long program. Nearly every Sunday morning from 11 – 12, students will have the opportunity to meet with Rabbi Gartner over bagels for vigorous, text-based Jewish learning about some of the most pressing issues of the day.
We are all looking forward to an enriching semester together.
